Song Inside of Me
In the dance of life, favorite songs don’t always play.
And the partners of choice don’t always lead the right way.
But just when I feel I’m ready to give up this dance,
I hear Your song saying leave nothing to chance.
And then I know
It’s not what the band plays, you see,
For the song is inside of me.
Music of salt, Words of light,
Melodies that set my soul to flight.
God of truth, let Your songs ring.
I rejoice for the freedom they bring.
In the race of life, the course is winding and steep.
I long to finish, yet my footage is hard to keep.
But just when I tire and long to quit this race,
I hear Your song telling of the mystery I need to embrace.
And then I know
It’s not for the crowd to sing victory,
For the song is inside of me.
